Mission
Statement
“Our mission
is to raise the awareness level of children in the areas of
child sexual abuse prevention and child abduction prevention,
to teach children how to respond if they are touched
inappropriately or if someone attempts to abduct them.”
The Need
According to
the National Center for the Missing, Exploited Children (NCMEC)
there will be approximately 58,000 non-family abductions this
year.
There will be
over 200,000 family abductions this year.
One out of
five girls and one out of every ten boys will be sexually
abused before they reach adulthood.
Experts
estimate that 60 million adults today were sexually abused
when they were children.
Over 800,000
children will be reported missing this year alone.
The Challenge
Our challenge
was to find a way to educate children in these sensitive areas
so as not to produce fear but to instill confidence. It was
our goal to produce a video that children would want to watch
over and over to build positive safety habits.
Educators
The Kids' n
Power Instructor Program is an effective way to teach
children effective safety habits for today’s world. It
approaches subjects like no other program and empowers
children by providing simple, practical and effective
responses to possible threats. The
Kids' n Power Program
does this in such a way that does not promote fear but will
instill confidence. Children gain confidence by knowing
exactly how to respond when in a confrontation. What
confrontation could be more important to address than that of
sexual abuse and child abduction?
