Procedures To Qualify For Decided Black Belt
Getting ready to test for your Decide Black Belt can be a bit confusing. First of all the Recommended Black Belt is a temporary rank. At the recommended and all black belt levels the student is responsible for his or her own progress and not the parents and must ask in class to work on any needed material.
All students wanting to attain the rank of Decided Black Belt or higher rank Black Belt must be in the leadership program.
All Black Belt candidates must help assist in at least one class per week.
The student must ask in class to test for all three of the progress stripes. (Parents cannot ask for their kids)
The first stripe is for their form Choong Jung 2.
The second stripe is for their board breaks. The student must look up what board breaks they want to do. This information can be found on our school web site, the link is http://betusa.org/camp.htm Look for the Recommended Black Belt options.
The final stripe is for all of the lower material. The student must ask an instructor while in class to work on lower material. In the regular classes the student may ask to work on the current form for all Orange thru Blue Belts. In Leadership or Black Belt Only classes the student may work on a lower form starting from brown and working backwards to white.
The student is required to write a paper on why he/she wants to be a Black Belt(5 pages for kids, 10 for adults)
and also a paper on what their goals will be once the rank of Decided Black Belt is achieved.
All of these requirements must be achieved and checked off on the Black Belt Requirements Application. The application must be turned in with the regular graduation registration form and fee one week prior to graduation. All forms must be filled out completely or they will be returned.
For the graduation the Recommended Black Belt must perform Song Ahm 1, Song Ahm 2 and Song Ahm 3 in a continuous pattern, break the required board stations by the fourth attempt, free spar two matches and one match against two opponents and perform their current form with proper stances, power full kicks and hand techniques.
When the student successfully completes their testing the graduation results will be mailed to the student within two weeks. If the student passed the test he/she will have a Black Belt Ceremony and their rank of Decided Black Belt will be official.
